Coffee Stains for Balanced Brains

I just love creating these Coffee Stain paintings. They are based on lesson 8 of the 8-week course. When I do them often, (which I usually do) it is like someone else is doing them, not me. It’s like something/one is flowing through me and onto the page. I often tell myself that it can’t possibly be me because just I’m not that talented!

So, I guess, I am no different to anyone else. We all judge our creative abilities. But it is when we allow ourselves to continue playing anyway that something magical happens.

Doing the coffee stains is a real challenge for the left brain. The left brain is the dominant brain, and it wants to always be in control. If it feels threatened, it will retaliate and tell you, you are not good enough or it looks too stupid. Move over left brain, my right brain wants to have fun. In all honesty, I have done hundreds of these coffee stains but only a few have gotten past my left brains approval to share with the world.

The method I use to do them is first spill the coffee on the paper. I usually do 10 or so at a time. I check on them often to see what I can see but they usually take at least 24 hours to dry. Then I simply start following around the edges of the coffee stain with a black marker pen and then start adding watercolor paint. I usually spend many hours on each one because every time I look at them, I see something else.

Each Coffee Stain painting is available as a high-quality canvas print measuring 41 x 51cm @ $250 each.

I hope my Coffee Stain Art brings you as much joy and excitement as they do for me.

Love & Peace
